Infographics Master Apprentice Exercise 2

The second Master Apprentice task we were set was based on infographics, it was to recreate 2 bar charts

Bar Chart 1

I found this bar chart easy to create as it is very simple. I found it hard to get the colours matching perfectly but overall I liked the outcome of this graph and will keep it in mind when creating graphs for my infographic.

Bar Chart 2

I found this bar chart kind of easy to recreate. The challenge for me when recreating this chart was the placement of the small lines that are in the background of the chart. I also found it very difficult to match the exact colour scheme for this chart, although If i was to recreate this chart I would focus more on the type of fonts used and the colours. I will continue to practice making graphs so when it comes to my infographic I will be able to include them.

Understanding Stacked Bar Charts

Data visualization has become an important part of our everyday life, allowing us to quickly assess information. And with so many chart types out there to choose from, it should be possible to effectively solve almost any task, whether it’s exploratory (i.e. researching and analyzing data to better understand it for yourself) or explanatory (i.e. reporting and communicating data to end users). However, variety can also cause confusion, making it difficult to clearly understand the purpose of each form of data visualization. As a result, when an inappropriate type of chart is applied to data, the user not only might be confused by the information, but, more importantly, could make bad decisions based on such a presentation.
