Digital Product ideas

Three Ideas
===========

Idea 1:  Illustrate with me. How to make cityscape illustrations from basic shapes.
———————–

I feel when it comes to making digital illustrations of cityscapes they look complicated at first to design using applications such as; Sketch, Adobe XD,

Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This may result in many UI and UX designers paying money for an illustrator to design their content for an app, website or

maybe even a poster. One of my ideas is a paper based tutorial book that will show step by step how to build different cityscape illustrations using basic shapes.

Pros and Cons

————-

### Pros

+ I enjoy designing and recreating cityscapes using Sketch and Adobe XD. I would enjoy breaking them down to help people to learn.

+ I could show the users of the book how to recreate famous landmarks, from all around the world, by using basic shapes.

+ I could expand this book after and create another showing how to make illustrations of a different category?, maybe animals?

### Cons

+ I haven’t visited many famous landmarks and countries to have the images to recreate the cityscapes/landmarks from, although I could use the web.

+ There are other books that have been made by top designers that show step by step how to create cityscape illustrations:

+ It will take a lot of time to make the illustrations and record how to recreate them using shapes step by step.

How might it be built?

———————-

I think I’d probably use XD, Sketch or Illustrator to make the main aspects of the product such as the illustrations themselves, although the product will be paper based.

I’d also need to consider how I formatted the written materials. I will format the written text by PDF

Many applications online offer a paid service that will print your book for you in the format of a hardback, paperback, booklet or a coil.

I am maybe thinking of using a coil for this tutorial book, this will stand out and be different compared to the other standard cityscape illustration books.

Who’s it for?

————-

I think there’s a growing body of designers who are self-taught on illustration and have focused more on the UI side of design. They’re looking for advice on

how to make cityscape illustrations for maybe a book, magazine, advertisement, poster or app. This book will show them how to put simple shapes together to

make amazing detailed cityscape illustrations.

## What’s the business model?

I would first advertise the book through social media such as Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, with a link that can allow people to preorder the book.

. I would sell and advertise the book online on a website I created. For the first day of this book being released I could offer 30% off the book only on my

website. I could make leaflets to give out to people when the book is being released with a code to get 30% off online only on the release date?

Idea 2:  Book to teach how to draw nature- The Keys to Mastering drawing.
———————–

I feel as though people find it very hard to draw, either you can draw well or you cannot, well I think thats untrue, if you can write your name you have

enough touch to draw. From a very young age I have been fascinated with nature. I always found myself drawing the insects, animals, birds around me. I would

like to help others become more comfortable with drawing, to feel like they can do it.

Pros and Cons

————-

### Pros

+ I enjoy drawing it is a massive hobby for me so it would be fun rather than work creating the book

+ I could show how to draw a range of wildlife such as; different types of birds, flowers and insects

+ I could expand this book after and create another series that is much more simple showing how to draw mythical creatures for children.

### Cons

+ My drawing skills are out of practice from stopping A levels and starting my degree. It is much more a hobby now so I am a little out of practice.

+ It could be difficult to explain each step.

+ It will take a-lot of time to draw each drawing in the book, also breaking down each step.

How might it be built?

———————-

I think I’d probably just draw the drawings by hand and scan them onto the computer to print, I could consider getting a graphics tablet to allow me to drawdigitally.

Id also need to consider how I formatted the written materials. I will format the written text by PDF.

Many applications online offer a paid service that will print your book for you in the format of a hardback, paperback, booklet or a coil.

I am maybe thinking of using a coil theme for this book and making it larger than a usual book. Maybe after the tutorial page have a page with squares that

allow the user to try and recreate the drawing themselves beside the original. This will allow the book to open completely and stay open to allow the user to draw in the book.

Who’s it for?

————-

This book could be aimed at a range of people? possibly GCSE, A level students or students studying Foundation Degree in Art Collage that are following a

certain type of nature project? possibly students that feel like they are weak on their drawing skills and would like to improve.

Also aimed at people who love nature and enjoy drawing for a hobby.

## What’s the business model?

I would first advertise the book through social media such as Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, with a link that can allow people to preorder the book.

I would sell and advertise the book online on a website I created. For the first day of this book being released I could offer 30% off the book only on my website. Idea 3:  How to be iconic- tutorials to help designers with making icon sets.

———————–

I feel when it comes to making icons they seem easy to create at first but there a lot of design tips that must be followed when creating different sets of icons using applications such as; Sketch, Adobe XD,Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. This may result in designers having a brilliantly designed app with uneven, untidy icons. One of my ideas is a weekly tutorial that will show how to build a range of different icons each week step by step.

Pros and Cons

————-

### Pros

+ I enjoy designing deisgning using Sketch and Adobe XD. I would enjoy breaking them down to help people to learn for their own use.

+ I could include top tips and rules that should be considered when making your own set of icon, also the different types and where to use them.

+ I could expand this book after and create another maybe following a different theme of icons.

### Cons

+ I am used to using Adobe XD for icons, whereas I have been advised Sketch or Illustrator are much more useful. I will have to learn how to use the other

softwares.

+ There are other books that have been made by top designers that show step by step how to create icons.

+ I will have to think of different icon themes to create each week in the tutorial to keep the users interested and not bored.

How might it be built?

———————-

I think I’d probably use XD, Sketch or Illustrator to make the main aspects of the product such as the icons I will be making.

I’d also need to consider how I formatted the written materials. I will format the written text by PDF.

Who’s it for?
————-

I think there’s a growing body of designers who are self-taught on iconography- and have focused more on the UI side of design. They’re looking for advice on how to make icons for maybe a app or maybe even for their own brand. These weekly tutorials  will show them how to create simple icons following a range of steps. It will also advise them on the top tips for designing their own icon set.

## What’s the business model?

I would first advertise the tutorials through social media such as Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, with a link that will direct people to my website and allow them to sign up for the tutorials each week. For the first week of the tutorial I could offer free to the first 20 subscribers, if they like the tutorial they can then pay for the subscription to the next tutorial.
